Ethiopian Origin ID-Card (The yellow card)
Ethiopia’s legal system does not permit dual citizenship, but Proclamation 270/2002 and Regulation 101/2004 issued for Providing Foreign Nationals of Ethiopian Origin with certain Rights to be Exercised in their Country of Origin allow diaspora members to acquire an Ethiopian Origin ID Card – commonly known as a yellow card – which grants them certain rights and privileges by lifting the legal restrictions imposed on them when they gave up their Ethiopian nationality.
Yellow card holders, for instance, are considered as domestic investors and can invest in every sector, including joint investment with the government.
